Marsha Donahue has been a presence in the Maine Arts Community for more than 30 years, exhibiting and/or teaching in Portland, Waterville, Millinocket, Rockland, Belfast and Brunswick. Her paintings are geographically specific and imbued with her knowledge of the Maine landscape. Working in both oil and watercolor, her paintings are characterized by bold, fluid brushwork and a vivid palette.

Donahue writes of her work: “I don’t remember the first time I saw light sparkle in a stream or a flock of birds change direction in flight to reflect the sun, but the memory permanently exists outside of a time boundary… Now impressions are becoming expressions, not as some rigidly reproduced image, but as color, form, mood, rhythm - the music of the visual - and my muse is Maine.”
